Job Summary:

During the seasonal operating schedule, an enginner operates (drives) diesel power railcars over the railway, and occasoinally performs the duties of passenger train conductor.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Must be dependable and able to work scheduled hours.
  • Operates diesel railcars, locomotives and company owned highway vehicles in a professional and safe manner.
  • Work in a fast paced environment.
  • Performs routine maintenance, servicing and cleaning of rail cars, locomotives and company buildings and repair shop areas.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot malfunctioning mechanical equipment when operating railcars or locomotives on the road.
  • Be capable of dealing courteously and helpfully with train passengers and fairly resolve disputes and complaints of customers (passengers).
  • Possess the aptitude to learn how to safely and correctly operate diesel powered railcars and locomotives.
  • Works as passenger train conductor as required.
  • Able to work in high altitutde environment up to 14,115 feet.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Must pass a drug screening.
  • Report to work with a clean, neat appearance; male employees’ clean shaven.
  • Read and abide by the Policy book.

We are looking for a hard working individual who is able to work well in a fast paced environment.  This individual should have twelve (12)  years of general educatio nor equivalent, and previous practical mechanical repair experience, preferably a minimum of 2 years.  This is a season position.  You will be working in a high altitude environment, operating trains safely to and from the summit of Pikes Peak.  We strive to provide excellent service to all of our customers while still maintaining a fun and enjoyable work environment. Usually 7:00am - 5:30pm or 12:00pm - 9:00pm.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Must be dependable and able to work scheduled hours.
  • Must be able to follow direction and implement tasks with little to no supervision.
  • Communicate politely and effectively with customers and coworkers both in person and on the phone.
  • Work in a fast paced environment.
  • Sell tickets in person and over the phone, handles cash and credit/debit cards.
  • Operates the computer system to make reservations and perform other tasks.
  • Prepare a sales report.
  • Answers questions about Cog Railway and other attractions.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of work area, employee restrooms, waiting areas and any other private or public area as required.
  • Understand that this is a seasonal position and that no holidays are observed.
  • Report to work with a clean, neat appearance; male employees' clean shaven.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening.

We are looking for hard working individuals who are able to work well in a fast paced environment. You will be doing everyday tasks such as handing out pre-purchased tickets, selling tickets at the ticket window and over the phone, making reservations for future dates, answering questions about our company as well as other attractions in the area and working with our computer system. Job Summary:

Rides trains and is responsible for safety and comfort of passengers, make required reports and speaks to big crowds.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Must be dependable and able to work scheduled hours or extra if required.
  • Must be able to speak to big crowds effectively and give appropriate lecture over P.A. system on the train while in transit.
  • Must be able to stand and work for majority of your shift (8 to 10 hours).
  • Must be able to follow direction and implement tasks with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds for moerate periods of time.
  • Must be able to think quickly and react effectively in emergency situations.
  • Collect tickets, make required counts and reports.
  • Sell only company authorized merchandise on train. Make correct sales reports.
  • Use railroad radio ofr required business only.
  • Work assigned trains and look after the safety and comfort of passengers.
  • When not assigned to a train, report to Shop Supervisor and/or Traffic Manager for work.
  • Clean trains inside and out when required.
  • Clean shop restrooms or depot platform when required.
  • Help park vehicles when required.
  • Perform other duties and custodial work as required.
  • Understand that this is seasonal work and no holidays are observed.
  • Must pass a drug screening.

We are looking for hard working individuals who enjoy speaking to large crowds. You will be conducting the tour for our train rides up and down the mountain. You will give a lecture over our P.A. system while the train is in transit, make sure all of the customers are on the train before you leave the Summit, and sell company authorized merchandise on the way down from the top while answering any questions our customers might have. We strive to provide our customers with excellent service while still maintaining a fun and enjoyable work environment. When you are not assigned to a train you will help around the shop or other areas on the grounds as required. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time while outside.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather from heat, wind, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Ability to converse in a fluent, courteous and professional manner with passengers, hikers, general public and coworkers.
  • Controls filling of the parking lots to a pre-planned schedule.
  • Contacts bus and RV drivers upon arrival to direct them to correct areas.
  • Identifies and directs non-railway customers away from parking lots.
  • Assists disabled, elderly and handicapped passengers to reach the trains and appropriate parking places.
  • Provides ground maintenance and clean up duties for the depot and train platforms.
  • Removes trash and performs janitorial duties as scheduled.
  • Ability to talk and converse in a fluent, courteous and professional manner with passengers, hikers, general public and coworkers.
  • Must be able to keep busy between parking vehicles by performing maintenance duties.

We are looking for hard working individuals who are able to work well in a fast paced environment as well as outside. You will be in control of filling in our parking area with train customers, advising non-customers they are not able to parking in our lots, giving directions and assisting customers with getting to the trains. You will be outside most of the time so the ability to work in different types of weather and be on your feet for extended periods of time is important.
