The Waldo Canyon Fire - UPDATE

TRAINS OPERATING AS USUAL

Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs and the Railway Depot were not harmed in the fire that started in Waldo Canyon (about 5 miles from the depot) on June 23rd and trains are operating normally.   See live webcam shots here. Highway 24 is also open.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Waldo Canyon fire is 100% contained. Heavy, steady rains on July 6th,7th, 8th and 9th and a monsoonal moisture flow (producing afternoon thundershowers and cooling daytime high temperatures to around 80 degrees F.) have helped bring an earlier end to the fire than initial estimates.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The Pikes Peak Cog Railway extends our deepest sympathies to  the families who have lost their homes in the fire recently. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as well as EVERYONE who has been affected.

OUR HEARTFELT THANKS GOES OUT TO THE COURAGEOUS MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE BATTLED THIS BLAZE.

You can see a live shots of our depot and the Summit on our WebCam page here.

Thank you..
